Family day weekend (Feb 13-15) Gunks?

Postby Pallek » Fri Jan 15, 2010 11:18 am

I'm just gauging interest at this point. Statistically the temps average around +2 C, and there is a good chance that it would be dry. So anyone interested?

I'm interested, if my finger is healed enough by then.

About 7 hours. I was hoping on staying in a motel, as it's calling for highs of 0-1 C, and the nights should be considerably colder.

I don't think it takes 7 hours Pallek. That seems too long. Joe - it's a super casual drive on Interstate THE ENTIRE WAY. 417 to 416 to 401 to interstate.

You guys should stay in a motel for sure. You'll climb much better every day after a warm showever in the morning etc. Maaan, I wish I could go.

Joe - do the Black boulder problem! Incredible!

We stayed at the Super8 once. Pretty good. We also stayed at a Super8 or something across the highway on the other side too.

Worse than pager - I'm on shift work during the Olympics for support. I only have 4 days where I don't work in Feb.

Black Boulder problem is an awesome V5. Super good. No terrible crimps. Graham made a brief video of the gunks and the problem is in there. I should get him to post the video on vimeo or something.

I'd like to get on the Black Boulder problem as well. I wasn't able to convince my crew to stop at it on my last trip. I've got Monday off, so I'd like to stay for the extra night. I'd rather not have to do the drive alone though, so I'll see who else's interested before I make any firm decision. I get off work at 4:00, so I can leave any time after that on Friday.

I'm going to have to look for some footage of the Gill Egg problem. My beta was much worse than I have seen elsewhere. I believe that this problem might be in the same vid that Dave was mentioning.

Hmmm...
The weather for the weekend looks good but there is a winter storm warning for today and tonight - 5-10 inches of snow.
If they get that much snow it will be wet on the weekend.
Any webcams on the boulders?

Chris.

Alternatively you can just phone the guys at Rock & Snow. I've done that before and they've known exactly what's going on up there.

I just called. They said that there is snow on the ground but the boulders should be dry. Bring a tarp :D
